ANDEAN SEED SHAKER / CHAJCHAS
Chajchas are a small percussion instrument of the rattle family, originating in the Central Andes. The instrument is used in traditional rituals and ceremonies, and can also be heard in much of the folk music of the region, especially the countries of Colombia, Bolivia, Peru, Chile, Ecuador.
This Chajcha is made with seeds. Can be hand held or used as bracelets on wrists and ankles. Some say it reminds them of the sound of wind and fallen rain.
Colorful and playful textile strap with velcro.
Made in Peru.
Wrapped in colorful tissue. Includes Andean shaker history.
